Attacks both the greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) in the second and third larval stage. Eretmocerus eremicus performs best at a 24 hour average greenhouse temperature greater than 20°C/68°F. However introductions can start at lower temperatures. At higher temperatures (above 30°C/86°F) Eretmocerus eremicus stays active and is less susceptible to pesticides than Encarsia formosa. An added advantage to whitefly control is the higher rate of host feeding, killing the larvae before they pupate into adults.
Suggested Release rates: Preventive: 1.5 - 3m² every one to two weeks Curative light: 3-6/m² weekly for three weeks, or until control is achieved Curative heavy: 9/m² weekly for three weeks, or until control is achieved
