A. aphidimyza attacks a wide range of aphid species. Adult gall-midges are active at night and are attracted to aphid colonies by the smell of honeydew. Eggs are deposited in the aphid colonies. Larvae paralyze the aphids and suck out their contents. They very often kill more than they consume.
